I am on a budget and a looking at graphic cards for my computer. Should i go with the ATI radeon 3850 256mb or the nvidia geforce 8600gt 512mb. Or two nvidia geforce 8400 gs 256mb?

A couple of those choices seem kinda odd- what is your approximate budget?

The Radeon 3850 is better than the 8600GT, but the prices I’ve seen for it are very close to better-performing cards.

For $70, the 8600GT and Radeon 2600XT are virutally a toss-up. But just under $100, it’s between the Radeon 3850 and Geforce 9600GSO. For $125 you can jump to the 8800GT, which outperforms those cards (and the Radeon 3870, too).

Once you hit the $175 and up cards, that’s where ATI rules. The Radeon 4850 and 4870 crush the competition in their respective price ranges.

I need 4 monitors on the same computer, however my graphics card only has 2 DVI ports. I am using a 4850 at the moment, but have a 3850 lying around doing nothing, I was wondering if it would be possible to use both of them (not in crossfire), to allow me to add additional monitors.

Thanks in advance.

If your motherboard supports having two video cards like that (likely needing two PCI-Express slots) then it should work.

I just bought a Lenovo Ideacentre K210 computer and I’m wondering if I can add my old PCI graphics card into this computer. I want to use it until I buy a PCI-Express card.

Check your Power Supply and the requirements of the video card you’re looking at.

Is it possible to replace the graphics cards that come in hp dv6t laptops, hp dv7 laptops, and dell laptops? If so, what graphics cards can be put in them? How hard is it to replace the graphics card?

There are very few laptops which can have the graphics upgraded and the dv6 and dv7 are not among them. There is no real standard for laptop graphics cards so even if they can be upgraded you are limited to whatever the manufacturer of the laptop offers.
There are some docking stations which accept desktop graphics cards and there are also external graphics cards. These are not very portable but they can give you better graphics.

how do you figure out what kind of video card your computer has?

Follow the order:

Start – Settings – Control Panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager – Display adapters.

Your graphics card will be named in the drop-down list under "display adapters".

I assume you are looking for the expansion slot type.
You need to see what slot is included on the motherboard.
There are three types-PCI, AGP and PCI Express.
All computers have PCI slots, so you can use it if you want. The other two slots are for faster and more expensive cards.
Go to your computer manufacturer’s web site and find your model. Then check the motherboard specifications.
The specs will tell you what expansion slot is on the motherboard.
