ATI launched the HD 4890 video chip earlier this year in April and today it is one of the bestselling video cards in the world with cards available at the same price point as the GeForce GTX 275 or lower and offering similar performance but more features (DirectX 10.1). The HD 4890 is available online for as low as $213, making it one of the better deals in terms of price/performance. ASUS sells a lot of video cards based on both NVIDIA and ATI chips and this review is on the ASUS EAH4890/HTDI/1GD5/A card.

i a looking for a mother board that has onboard graphics card of 512 mb.which r the good ones and what r the prices in india.

id look for any nforce based chipsets. They come with playable graphics from nvidia plus the robustness of amd. The memory in inbuilt cards depend on the amount of ram u have on board. 4gb of ram would give u 512mb of onboard graphics memory.

PS.. im from india.. and the latest nehru place prices of the above mentioned mobo is abt Rs10000 (this includes the price of a decent dual core AMD processor + heatsink)

Not a PCI-e, a regular PCI card.

No AGP either…

Thanks.

The motherboard is an ASUS and I’ve reset the BIOS many times after I got no response from my monitor with the cards. I have Matrox and 2 nvidia graphics cards. Motherboard is around 1997-9 and so are the cards. Please help me someone!! Are jumpers responsible? I removed 1 and don’t remember where it belongs.

there’s a Philippine website that is very computer user-friendly www.tipidpc.com. You can ask this question in its forum and you would get immediate answers from computer buffs and experts (you can even see if the members are online). You only need to create an account for free and you could access all the web site’s features.

I bought age of empires and it wont work cause i need 64mb video card. So i went to some computer shops and they don’t sell them! Just my luck!!! How should i go about getting a 64mb video card? Or is there any other way i can play it? And do the other age of empire games require a 64mb video card. I have NO IDEA!

You can find them online easily, it just sucks waiting for shipping. I alwasy stick with Nvidia. Or go to your nearest best buy and talk to a person from geek squad, they really know thier stuff. Do you have a desktop or a laptop? Most laptops can’t have the video card upgraded, it’s usually soldered onto the motherboard, but if you have a desktop then your in good shape.

HEEEEEEEEELLLP MEEEEEE

1GB nVidia® GeForce™ GTS 240 graphics card
Dual SLI™ 1GB nVidia® GeForce™ GTS 240 graphics card
1.8GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX260 graphics card
DUAL SLI™ 1.8GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX260
1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 graphics card
1.8GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX295 graphics card
Dual CrossFire™ 1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 graphics card

Which one is the best out of these? I’m assuming because Dual is 2 and is more expensive it’s is better. Btw I’m looking at gaming computers ;) thanks

The GTX260

or the ATi Radeon 5870

the dual means there are two physical video cards in the computer running in tandem to produce one image. Ati’s name for this is Crossfire, Nvidias name for this is SLi

both are Scalable link interfaces.

if you dont plan on running a extremely large monitor (talking 28" 1920×1200 or more) i’d doubt you would see any true advantages over two 5870’s vs a single one, as one of those cards by itself is extremely f@#$ing fast.

I have a Evga GTX260 SSC Knock Out 896MB (limited edition) and it tears through any game around including Crysis, also game on a 28" 1920×1200 monitor lol….. and SLi would help me, But i’ve got a 2 year old kiddo to take care of, so no moar computer parts right now.

damn economy not letting me get my game on, the way i want to get my game on : P

If i had the spare cash, id shoot for the crosfire system, If i’m sorta strapped on the moolah, shoot for the single 5870 or GTX260.

Both cards are about the same (Ati’s is faster, but are sort of known to have driver issues, Image sampling errors, and Anti Aliasing doesnt work on some games [Battleground europe]) But the ATI 5870 would win over a standard GTX260 in a benchmark bedlem battle.

The SLi GTX260 Vs the Crosfire 5870 would be one hell of a battle though, so make a long hard desicion over that.

And if you’ve already got over 1.5GB of texture memory another 256MB or 486MB really…honestly, won’t make one hell of a difference at all, not even 1fps. with that much available pooled memory, you’ll run out of processing power far before you run out of a place to put everything.
